XFX Nvidia GeForce FX5600 graphics card crashes

I have just installed a GeForce FX 5600 graphics card with 256mb of ram. I removed all drivers and installed 52.16 drivers. FS9 totally locks up soon after starting, sometimes as early as the start up screen. Tried different drivers but no luck. CFS2 and CFS3 also crash within a minute of starting up.

850mhz AMDE Athlon processor

387mb ram sounds very low

I have read that XP requires at least 1G of ram.

Mark, that is pretty much a false statement......XP requires 128 MB, not 1 GB! in fact, that is a lot of RAM, sure it could be 512, but 387 or whatever is decent)....trust me

Anyway, the only thing i can think of is 1) why did you buy the 256 mb version :-lol? And 2) your processor is a little on the slow side, but should work ok, and 3) go to your windows START --> RUN, then type dxdiag in the box. Run your DirectX video tests, and make sure you have directx9.0b or a installed:

I've seen some posts about AMD boards having problems with GeForce 5XXX. Go to the FS2004 forum and do a lookup.

Hi, Just one question. Why you said this. I need to upgrade to a new video card and see this one the other day.

Do you know there are problems with this.

The installation program for FS will have made certain decisions based on your system when you installed. These will still be embedded in your setup.

It sucks, but a clean install of FS may help things. Another tip for DirectX is to ALWAYS clean-install if you change any sound or gfx hardware, sometimes even driver issues can be resolved this way.

BTW: You can actually run XP on 64Mb RAM, but it's rubbish!!!
