No matter where I fly, all I have are coloured squares where the scenery (cities, farms, etc..)should be. I thought maybe it was my CD's- So I exchanged my original FS2004 for a new one and re-installed it, only to see the same scenery... The airports are detailed, but outside is just green.
I do get a message when the scenery is loading that says "Error trying to open an unexisting file" Its been like that since my original install and happens around 60% of loading scenery on the status bar. I dont know what else to do!
I have downloaded my video cards latest drivers (I have a Radeon 8500) and still nothing!
I would appreciate any help on this topic!!

Check your slider settings under, options->display on the main menu, and make sure your texture sliders are maxed out.

Remeber that if you have a bad GPU that does not support lightining like an 8MB GPU and you got the water se to reflection then the will be squares or patches of water reflection

Well...no matter how awesome your PC is or the latest Video Card, FS9 wasn't built for todays PC. The key is to play with the settings and find the best fit.

I have everything maxed using AA: 4x and AF: 8x using Quality.

Still no use.. I tried moving the default scenery up in priority and it still dosnt work.

Please list what hardware and software you are using it will help with what questions people may want to ask.
But it sound like your VC may be getting old and should probably updated soon. You may want towait for the next generation of ATI cards after the 9800 line.
Also, you may need to turn the sliders down until you get something that you can live with.
