Thread: East Coast Military Airports

  1. Default East Coast Military Airports

    Hi all-

Can anyone suggest a military base, or two, along the US eastern coast, that has interesting scenery features, airplanes, eye candy?

As a change, I'm starting to enjoy flying military planes.

    Thanx.

    Regards...

FS2004 is sadly lacking in military airports/aircraft. Remember it comes from the Seattle, Wa area?

Military fields have nowhere near the detail of civilian airports. You might try Norfolk, Va area or Fayetteville, NC, that's two of the largest eastcoast bases.

I fly military aircraft and I have used Abacus's EZ Scenery to build
up my favorite bases. Also, you can get My Traffic add-on and it
will populate those bases with military aircraft.

You pretty much have to create your own military world in FS2004.

    Hi-

    Thanx for the reply.

Try these updates from the scenery library: McGuire AFB (New Jersey) and Bangor Maine (has military parking areas attached.

But after that, I haven't found anything nice, yet.

    Building my own?...too inept.

    Regards...

There is a decent rendition of Charleston AFB, SC (KCHS) by Adam Serieka on this site or the other. Do a search for KCHS or the author's name and it should pop up. I fly C-17s and C-5s out of there frequently and consider it a nice addon for FS 9,

Jim Donlin has enhanced a number of military bases - eye candy mostly. Do a search for his name here and at Avsim and you should find a dozen or so to chose from.

There are also some very nice AI additions by MAIW (Military AI Works) which will populate a number of bases (and the skies) with some good looking military aircraft.

    Try this link: www.militaryaiworks.com/

    Hope these ideas are helpful.

These responses are helpful, but IMO, David Marshall gave you the best answer. MAIW (military ai works) is a group of developers who, like you (and I) are military aircraft enthusiasts and didn't think they saw enough of them in FS9.

Among others, they've given us USAF - ANG Seaboard (which is where you're interested), but also, USAF - Southeast ANG, LRAFB Military AI Package (Little Rock AFB-this is an incredible one!), and USN_USMC_C-130's.

Look on their website: www.militaryaiworks.com/ for downloads, packages-these have everything already put together--really nice!

    David;
Know of anyone doing airbase packages that are done-up in WWII era, like UK 8th AAF bases with B-17's, along with US AAF and training bases ?
For some strange reason, I thought when one reset the "time" in FS9 back to 1942, the skyscrapers and jets would disappear..

Off the top of my head...... no.

Quite few folks are into Retro setups on their systems but I have not seen anyone say they had extended this idea to U.S. military bases.

As an extra piece of info about the MAIW site, they have a dedicated forum post that lists addons for military bases. Lots of users have posted links or file names for some outstanding "updated" military base scenery packages there. When combined with the MAIW AI packages for these bases, you will get some outstanding military ops taking place at them.

NAS Oceana. Done by VUSN(Virtual US Navy)by Jim Dhaenens. Lot's of eye Candy, but Ya gotta put your own AI there as far as I know. Seems to have been neglected by the folks who do Military AI.
