Default Engine Start in the B747

I am having trouble starting the B747 engines sequentially, i.e., start engine 1, then engine 4, then engine 3 and then engine 2. If I press Ctrl-E, it starts them in the order of 1,2,3,4 - but that's not what I want. I want it in sequence of 1,4,3,2.

FS says if you want to control one engine, you must first press E and then the engine number. I press E-1, to take control of engine 1. Now I want to start engine 1 (and ONLY engine 1). I hit Ctrl-E. All of my engines start, in the order 1,2,3,4. It's as if I never took control of engine 1 by pressing E-1 before hitting the start command (Ctrl-E).

    Very frustrating. Any suggestions?

Ctrl-E is Auto Start and I believe always starts all engines.
Use start switches on over head panel at least on the default 747.

I am flying an add-on (WestWind virtual airlines) 747-200, with an alias panel from the FS 747-400.

I know how to start all engines - that wasn't my question. I want to start them INDIVIDUALLY, and SEQUENTIALLY, in order of 1-4-3-2. I don't seem to be able to do that. No matter what I do, they start one after the other, in order of 1-2-3-4.

    Hey Mike

What you need to do is use the panel to start them.(More fun!)
Firstly you need to set up for the start, which in the default 747 panel is rather simple...(no APU or bleed air to worry about).
All you need to do is have the battery on.
Then if you go to your throttle quadrant make sure all fuel shutoff switches are in the off or cut position.
Now to start the engines sequentially all you do is click on the black plunger switch on your overhead which corresponds to the engine you wish to start, that starts spooling up the engine, whilst doing this watch your N1 increase on your primary flight display when it gets to around 20 go back to your throttle quadrant and click the fuel flow switch for that engine, what you are doing is letting the engine spool up before adding the fuel for ignition.
    And that is it.

The plungers on the default panel are near the light switches on the overhead part of the main panel, numbered 1-4 obviously 1 being for engine 1 etc...

Hope this helps, CTR E is simple, but you sound as though you want a bit more realism, so the panel is the way to go!

    Hope this Helps

    All the best!

Thanks so much, Anthony! Your explanation is perfect. Works like a charm for me now.

    Shouldn't it be 3-4-2-1?

    No problem!

Actually I am not two sure about the Jurasics, but the 747-400's SOP is something to the effect of 4 then 1, 2 and 3 can be started simultaneously quite easily with one pac running.

4 is started first, if i recall correctly, because it supplies hydraulic pressure to the brakes.(Could be wrong on the 400 but definately the 100 - 300)

    Cheers!
