Thread: Software to help with unused gauges, sounds, etc?

  1. Default Software to help with unused gauges, sounds, etc?

Is there a product, Free or Pay, that will examine an FS9 install and see if there are unused "gauge", "sound" or "effects" files?

Although I try and "keep track" it inevitably happens that I have files which are no longer associated with any aircraft because I deleted that aircraft. The problem is that some aircraft install MANY of these files and I get uncomfortable deleting them as other aircraft, that I retain, may use the same file.

    Any ideas?

There used to be a gauge cleaner file in the library www.flightsim.com that would attempt to clean things up. But, it quite often went too far and deleted things that you actually needed and wanted. The best advice I could give, is to just leave everything as is. It doesn't hurt anything to have extra stuff there, but can certainly be a big pain when it's gone.

    Vic,
here are 3 'simple ones' from the file library,
    cleanair.zip // gaugeexp.zip//gauinv1.zip

but I use Rana's FREE FlightSimManager that does a lot of what I think you're looking for.
(His MovingMap utility is a MUST-HAVE for VFR flyers.)

    Hope this helps.
    Loyd.
Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro

    DANG!

Loyd...I HAVE FlightSimManager installed. Guess I never realized it might perform these functions. I better get to reading the "help" file for it again ;-) .

Darrell...my only concern is that FS9 resides on it's own HD, a 76 gb Raptor, and it's surprising how fast FS9 and all my addon stuff can fill that space! I'm just over 40 gb on it already and just like to keep it as "clean" as possible.

    Thanks guys!

    Vic
