Thread: Saitek X52 Throttle advancing when at idle.

  1. Default Saitek X52 Throttle advancing when at idle.

    Hi.
I have a Saitek X52 and for the last few days the throttle will advance on the aircraft even though I have the joystick set to idle and when I am parked at the gate it will move forward and I have to keep adjusting the throttles to bring them back to idle.
    This happens on all aircraft.
I have messed with the sensitivities and null zones to no effect.
I have re-installed the joystick but the throttles on the aircraft keep on advancing without me touching them.
I have done a search but cannot find an answer.
    Thanks.

If you have XP, uninstall all the Saitek software!!
Do a restore to before you installed it!!

Turn off your computer, plug in your joystick!!
Reboot and let XP find its own driver, they work
better than the one on the discs!!

Typically the joystick drivers sit between the Windows HID USB driver and FS. First I'd look at Gaming Options to see if there is any creep coming out of the Saitek directly or its drivers. if you notice this then try what Kimber suggests removing the Saiteck software control and try that same test after a reboot again. If the creep is still there then you are blessed with a hardware problem.

Testing this way removes FS9 and you aircraft model from the picture of whats happening so the cause can be isolated.

If perchance there is no creep, check any virtual assignments in the Saitek software and then go into FS and make sure the axis and button assignments are correct and not duplicated. If with no creep in Gaming Options you get it in FS I wonder if you may be getting keystroke noise repeats for an increase throttle function key or button some. Disable all button/key assignments regarding the throttle.

I had the same thing, it's the rheostat in the throttle section.
Call Saitek, they will replace it. They have a wonderful stick
    mechanically but very poor electronics.

I have finally solved the problem.
It was the Deadzone in the controllers properties.
For some reason there was a deadzone at the centre of the throttle properties, and although it was just a tiny grey line it is what caused the problems.
I removed the deadzone and now it works perfectly.
Thanks for taking the time to come up with suggestions.

Was that middle deadzone at the idle detent on the throttle by any chance? I don't have that stick but if you use that technique that is where it may belong but it should not be at the center. I assume the X52 maintained the idle detent of the X45.

Also I believe you need to have a center type axis for a dead zone anywhere but the bottom. If you do not want a center type axis but just a linear one starting at the mechanical bottom, define it like this.

An idle detent mapped deadzone is used for throttle controlled reverse thrust.
