Default Finding an Intersection in FS

This is one thing that has really bugged me over the years. When I go online and find an exact flight plan of an airliner, I usually find a few intersections in the plan. When I go into FS and plan my flight, it takes forever to find an intersection or I just give up. I usually scroll around the map looking for it. I think there should be a lookup feature in FS where you type in the intersection (or VOR or whatever) and it will bring you right to it. Is there an add-on or something that is like that? If so, is there an add-on that is not one of those 500 mb flight planners?? Thanks!

I use airnav.com for all US airports, VORS, NDBS, INTERSECTIONS
also has links to maps, and photoviews, and airport facility information

There are other sites for non-US airports that frequently have nearby VORs etc. and perhaps intersections listed.

Supe Flight Planner (which can be downloaded for free) has a facility to search the Microsoft database for navaids and waypoints after you've used it to process the MS database into SFP format.

Could you tell me a little more about Supe Flight Planner? How does it work out? I really just like plugging the intersections and waypoints into my FS flight plan and following it with my GPS. Is there a way I can use FS Navigtor to find the location of the intersections around the world and then go find them in FS? I would like to do that rather than run FS Navigtor and FS at the same time. Thanks for your help, it really is appreciated.

WHAT takes forever to find waypoints? IF you mean FS9 GPS then that maybe the FS9 database is out of date or the data you have is too up-to-date. IF the waypoint exists (and sometimes there can be multiple instances of these waypoints) then FS9 GPS/Flight Planner must find them/it your problem might be working out which one you want and that is quite simple as your flight plan should show the distance from point-to-point so the one with the correct distance is the one you want.

Get a flight plan from any source including making it up and copy from that into GPS flight planner and that's it. Problem will be getting out of date information regarding waypoints of any sort if they either never did or simply don't exist in FS9. FS navigator also has the same problem except in this case you can actually use FSNav as your GPS/FMC/AutoPilot. But if the waypoints simply don't exist in a database then nothing will show them.

Thanks Ron! One more question: how would I get the route into the GPS? Do I just type it in word or something and paste? If it's that easy, then wow.

I use the old freeware version of FSBuild. But you can use Super Flight Planner too. The payware FSBuild2 I'm sure is also very nice. They all create FS9-compatible plans. It is much better than trying to add a waypoint in the FS9 flight planner, which I agree, even if you know the lat/long it is almost impossible to find a waypoint. I think FSX has some confirmed enhancements to the flight planner.

fsroute.com lets you copy and paste a route, then it can export it into FS format, and also a bunch of addons including LDS 767, PMDG 737, etc. I can find a route (simroutes.com, routefinder.com), then export it with fsroute, all for free! No need for FSNavigator, FSBuild, etc, at least for me.
