    Default CORRUPT AIRPORT DATA BASE

When trying to set up a flight out of any airport in or around yakima WA, I can only access the active runway. But, even worse is that at kymc particularly, the data base sets my aircraft for takeoff somewhere over the polar ice cap. Another regional airport sets me up off the west coast of africa. I want to reinstall the airport data base(s), and need info about which install disk and which cab file to pull it from. I do have the very handy spreadsheet which lists each file on the 4 installation disks, but I'm still not sure which cab file to unpack...and where to put the files in my fs folder.

    thanks for any help!

I'm not saying that this is going to solve your problem but I would first put my #1 disk in, select delete, defrag and then reinstall FS2004. Remember now, your not going to loose anything listed under C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9. All your aircraft, scenery, etc. will still be there after you delete.

    I would also go to C:\Documents and Settings\(Owner/your name)\Application Data\Microsoft\

Now click on the FS9 folder itself.

Delete fs9.cfg and fs9.cfg.txt if there is the second one. There will definately be a fs9.cfg.

I had a problem just this past week where my screen would take way too long to open. I got tired of it and reinstalled. All is well now.

    Good luck with it anyway,

as happens so often with our hobby, and my involvement in it...not long after posting my question, I found the solution. The problem was caused by installation of a scenery set, not the data base itself. removing the add on scenery cured the problem. You beat me to posting my own self solution....:-)

    thanks...
