    Default Flight Planner

Can anyone explain please why, all of a sudden when I do a FS2004 flight plan the only way I can bring up ATC is to check the `go to airport box and start off at the runway. Before I used to uncheck the box and it would stay at my gate position but not anymore, although it does happen on occasions. ATC remains where I left off when I saved the previous flight - Any ideas please

    Thank you

When I do a flight plan, I normally do an IFR GPS plan. Then when it asks if I want to move the plane to the airport where I'm departing from, I say yes. Then I'm on that runway, and sometimes the ATC window is on or off. If it is off, all I do is hit the ` button right above the Tab button, and this opens the ATC window. If I want to see an unobstructed view, I just close the ATC window, and when I want it back just press ` again.

If I'm on a long flight and I step away and ATC is demanding my attention but I don't get there in time it will cancel the IFR flight plan. So if you want it back again, then you have to open the flight planner again and load that flight plan again and press "OK" to get it going again. However since you're over the Pacific or Atlantic, etc, and you're half way through your flight, you definitely DO NOT want to move the aircraft to the departure airport, choose no, and you'll continue your flight fine. And that reopens the IFR flight plan w/ ATC.

I'm not sure if I understood your question exactly, however by explaining how I do it, I hope that in the process your question might be answered.

    Happy flying.

What program do you create the flight plan in?

Do you save it when made?

Not sure if I have read the question correctly but I would say that ALL you have to do is press the " ' " button that is the one marked with the @ symbol with the ' underneath and should be located above and adjacent to the large ENTER key.
