Thread: Best payware (or freeware) Dash 8 or similiar

  1. Default Best payware (or freeware) Dash 8 or similiar

    Hi,

I am trying to come up with some Father's Day ideas for my kids to get me and I was thinking a payware turboprop. What is one of the best payware Dash 8 or similiar packages? I like doing small 1hr flights so the turboprops seem to be more fun then the prep that goes into my PMDG 737.

Thanks in advance for the ideas,

    Max

    Max,

From one dad to another: The Aeroworx Beech King Air. It does enforce some procedural things like the engine start procedure, trim, and speed control on decent. It also has a module that monitors the need for things like oil changes and tire replacements. It also has a significant number of add-on paint jobs from the usual places. I enjoy a lot of fairly short flights in it.

Thanks Glenn, I will go look Aeroworx up, the Beech is a nice short hop aircraft.

    Flight1 ATR 72-500 http://atr.flight1.net/

    Majestic Dash 8 Q300 http://www.majesticsoftware.com/c/po...tle=DashQthree

Both are outstanding, although the latter is not cheap at 50 Euros

The Aeroworx B200 gets my vote. It is a beautiful aircraft and fun to fly. I am not familiar with the two others listed in the previous post, but as a turboprop enthusiast I must say that the Aeroworx B200 and PMDG B1900D are my favorites.

ATR 72-500 from Flight 1 if you want a really good turboprop.

If you want a heckuva accurate one the Majestic Dash 8, as been said not cheap at 50 Dollars and a steep learning curve but nevertheless.

The learning curve is not all the plane either, you need to do a bit of tweaking in FSUIPC to get her to fly right, but once she does she's quite the lady.

It may be a little older than the rest, but I still like the PSS Dash 8. Also, I see from the web site that there has been a slight price reduction for this product.

Honestly mate; try the Majestic one. No comparison the flight model is light years ahead of PSS.

The payware options have much more realistic procedures and systemsetc. Both the ATR and Dash 8 have working FMC's with dp/iap's, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrics etc. A lot of work has gone into the modelling of the turboprops, too, which fs makes difficult to replicate.

As for the PSS version - it's quite old hat now, having been originally released for fs2002. Personally, I had a lot of problems with it with ctd's when entering dep/arr or routes. I see from their forum that the problem persists even now. Also, consistently with my experience, I note that the poster has not had a response to his request for support in the 17 days since he asked for help.

    regards,

    Jeff
