First of all you need to establish IF any of your aircraft even have an APU or a ground power connection as quite a few don't.
If they have either or both then have a look at the manual for that aircraft which will show where they are.
It really is a case of looking and checking as it is not a usual function in most default aircraft and only added to some of the good payware add-ons so again just look at manuals and check and if it isn't mentioned it isn't there.
With only 'Avionics Master Switch' and 'Nav Lights' on, the default A/C normally have sufficient battery charge to allow for such things as ATIS checks, getting clearance and starting pushback, before starting the engines in FS9.
At a busy airport, especially on VATSIM, you may encounter added delays in getting clearance and permission for pushback and engine start. (Yes, you get the sound of an APU on the jets but it doesn't do anything!!!).
If this is a problem, you can increase the battery capacity in FSUIPC.
Either access FSUIPC from within FS9 or modify it's FSUIPC.INI file in FS9/modules folder.
Open the .ini file and add/modify the line MagicBattery=x where x=0 will give unlimited battery power, x=1 is the standard FS9 default, x=2 is twice normal FS9 value etc.
Here is an extract from my .ini file
SuppressAllGusts=No
ExternalOptionControl=Yes
AutoTuneADF=No
KeepFS98CloudCover=No
ShowPMcontrols=No
MagicBattery=4
RudderSpikeRemoval=No
ElevatorSpikeRemoval=No
AileronSpikeRemoval=No
ReversedElevatorTrim=No
As you can see, mine is set to 4 times default which gives you plenty of time for checklists.
Hope that helps
Stuart
