    Default FSAutoStart affects McAfee afterwards

    Hi all.

I start FS9 using FSAutoStart. Everything is good, much improved FPS. McAfee and everything else that I stop with FSA, starts up fine after ending FS9. It's all good. FSA is a great program. Later, however, on next system startup, McAfee wants me to verify my subscription to everthing: Virus scan, firewall, spamkiller, privacy service. Time consuming pain in the patoot. I want to stop Mcafee in FS9 as it draws a lot of RAM and I am usually offline when playing FS9 anyway. ((I also have an FSA configuration with McAfee enabled (and IE as well); however, FPS is much reduced (5 +/- fps), but that's a question for another day.))

Does anyone have a suggestion about this McAfee thing? McAfee tech support hasn't a clue: FSA, FS9, they don't understand what I'm talking about and don't seem to want to.

On the off chance that someone else has delt with this or a similar issue and is willing to offer ideas to remedy it, please do.

    Thanks for any help,
    Rob

I would suggest getting rid of McAfee - it doesn't do its job properly anyway and allowed my computer to be infected with a virus that had been around for two years, which it couldn't detect even though the latest updates were installed, which Norton spotted instantly. McAfee is a shoddy piece of work and frankly substandard.

    Hi Rob,

Only other thing I could think of is to remove McAfee from the FSAutoStart list (leave it running), then just Exit McAfee from your desktop, instead of 'shutting it down.

    Hi,
When I had McAfee I just used the disable feature to stop all actions being done.
These programs are more than just a scan, they are actively monitoring many functions such as Email, downloads, updates, etc. Disable it once (don't shut sown completely) and see if it makes a difference. It did for me.
