Thread: Scenery files

    Default Scenery files

I've been downloading scenery files for use with FS2004. Every now and then I get files of type *.xcl . Are these valid FS2004 files or just leftovers from prior FS versions? I thought that FS2004 files are *.bgl files.

    Thanks, DKT

Actually, they have nothing to do with previous versions. They are leftovers from the scenery creation process. Many people (myself included) either forget or just don't bother to delete them before making their scenery available. Not really a big deal since they're usually not more than a few bytes in size.

Thank you for your reply, I'll delete mine. Maybe not a big deal but any file of 1 byte or larger takes up at least 16 Kbytes of storage, plus loading time etc. So I like to get rid of extraneous files.
