    Default Freeware Weather radar

    Hello Guys

Someone can tell me if there is any free weather radar out there for FS2004??
Maybe one included in some freeware panel that I can re-use on other panels??
I searched on both avsim and flightsim but I cannot find anything.

It sounds weird because actually I found quite few weather radar gauges for FS98 and FS2000!!!

I hope MS will include it on FSX!

    Thanks in advance!

While this doesn't really answer your quest for a freeware WX radar I would highly recommend purchasing ActiveSky ver. 6 which in itself is a terrific addon but included with it is a weather radar.

    Hello saturn05

There is indeed a freeware MD-11 panel that includes a working weather radar. It's made by Alain Capt, and can be found here (text in French and English)

    www.acsoft.ch

To use this panel you must have this MD-11 plane by Mike Stone/IFDG,
    found here

    www.overland.co.jp/sms/free.html

I have used this for a long time, and it does really work - but remember to read all instruction carefully, as it's a fairly complex panel.

If you have a little money to spare, go for ActiveSky6. It works for any plane and any panel.

    Hope this helps
    Bo

    Hi,

There may be very few actual weather radars out there for a panel. I have seen many of the the 'fake' animated ones in FS2000 and 2002.These are not what you are referring to?

The first link is a redirect for an automotive site, and I am not aboe to access Alain Capt's page. Is there another link?

The next link works but in Japanese. I am assuming the MD-11 plane is on the first page? Maybe a filename for the Alain Capt file in the library.
I'd like to try this out.

    Take care,
    Gary.

I struggled with the website www.acsoft.ch but it would not let me go to the English version even though there is an option for in the index page. Even on the French page, I could not see any link for downloads. Could you please help me.

    Thanks,
    Pramod

    Hi

Here is a little help (I hope):

    On Alain Capt's homepage choose

    1.) The English flag
2.) Go to the bottom of the new page and press where it says [FS]
3.) You'll now be on the download selection page, choose option "Panneau MD11, pour FS2004". This will bring you to the download/instruction page, in French AND English. The rest is just brainwork!

On Overland's Japanese page choose "FS2004_MD11V2_setup.exe" (13.1 mb).

Important: install the plane FIRST, as the panel-installer demands a plane to be installed to.

That's what I did, and it has worked nicely - after some initial frustation, though, but really worth it.

I hope this was help enough
    Bo

    Hi

    Here's an update:

Try this link to the panel:

    http://www.acsoft.ch/Flight_Simulato...d11-panel.html

    ..and this to the plane:

    www.overland.co.jp/simmarket/special.html

By the way, this is NOT a fake FX radar, it's a complex piece of programming, as documented in length by its author.

    Regards Bo

I couldn't get to the English-language page through the main index either. (I suspect that the page is temporarily unavailable.) However, through the link provided in one of the earlier messages, I found these two:

    core file: http://www.acsoft.ch/md11v2/ACSMD11panel_247.zip
    upgrade file: http://www.acsoft.ch/md11v2/ACSMD11panel_U_252.zip

SIGLINE: "Stealth is where it's not." :D

It was also necessary to edit out either the VC, or NoVC entries in the aircraft.cfg of the Overland plane, but...

I saw no weather radar in the panel that I downloaded and installed.

Thanks guys for the links. (I am still not able to go anywhere else from that page that shows the van. That is a redirected to swissroads or something.)

But the other links worked ok.

This is a very impressive panel and the real weather radar looks great. The TCAS is also useful for keeping track of traffic. I am going to download and install in a couple of days for sure.

    Take care,
    Gary
