    Default FS9 Terminating

My FS9 programme has begun terminating after beginning [ usually after 10 minutes or so ].There is no warning and the Microsoft reporting tool does not appear.
I've only recently done a full reinstall of the programme and have tried defragmenting the drive and run all the anti-virus checks.
Even running "Smart Close" before a session does not stop this behaviour, which would suggest it's FS9 or a basic function of Windows XP that is causing the cut out.
Does anyone have any ideas or similar experience and suggestions of ways of dealing with it.
    Yours in Appreciation

Find fs9 off the Start menu, work your way to Troubleshooting then try Reset Defaults, if that doesn't work, click the one that says something about Safe Mode. See if it starts normally after trying these.

    Hi,

    Are you using default aircraft?

I had the same problem with one of my add-ons. I had to open and save all the textures of the offending model using imagetool.exe Sorry, I know this advise is uesless if you're only using default models.

if you installed any aircraft and then the problem appeared, uninstall that aircraft and see if the problem continues.

I set the default values for FS 2004 and then it occurred to me that I was trying to fly in the Misty Fjords add on in Alaska with the PMDG 737NG.
So I took the PMDG to Melbourne, Australia and the sim behaved very nicely indeed. So it appears that it's the scenery that could be the culprit, and with so many addons and texture changes I've done to it lately it may be necessary to uninstall and then reinstall this area.
Thanks to all who replied with helpful comments and suggestions.
    Much Appreciated.
