    Default Weather

    I can't seem to load real world weather. I added an additional 512 RAM recently but the program worked until tonight. As soon as I try to load the weather, fs freezes and I have to quit. It trys to load when I load the program and I get the message "check your internet connection"

    What do I do?:(

    What do you do: wait? x(

    I'm getting the same error. Maybe the Jeppesen weather server is down? If so we can only wait.

    Yeah, must be the Jepp server is down. I've obviously got a good internet connection, but am getting the same error as well.

    Here's something weird though.....I had FS loaded up to the create a flight screen and was getting the error message regarding not being able ot download the weather, so I closed FS. Now I can't even load the program at all! I get the splash screen and then an immediate CTD. Anyone else experienced this?

    i too am having the problem. glad, in a 'it isn't just my computer/program' way, that others have the same issue.

    this is a different 'server problem' than i have seen before w/Jep. my prior experiences are that FS just declairs there is a problem ... this time the issue seems to freeze FS.

    Hi GL,
    I was going to say the Firewall also, but I just checked Real WX and got the loading acreen, stuck on 1%. This is at 2:39 CST.

    As for the program not loading, had you tried the old method of reneming your FS9 cfg file to fs9.OLD, then fire up the program again, a new cfg file will be rebuilt, and hopefully it will load up?

    Let us know what happens..

    Gary,

    Thanks a million for the advice on renaming the FS9.cfg! I'm not sure how mine got corrupted, but letting FS regenerate a new one seems to have solved my problem with FS not loading.

    I doubt the file was corrupted. Usually it is looking for something which is no longer available.

    In the weather section of the FS9.cfg file - if this server and port are not present it can cause the program to not start / CTD. It won't for everyone - but will for some:

    WeatherServerAddress=fs2k.zone.com
    WeatherServerPort=80
    LOADWEATHER=1 <- try changing this to 0

    BTW - this is what I currently get:

    ping fs2k.zone.com

    That is what I tell MS when I called them - not "the server is down" because it looks like a router issue at MSN - ntwk.msn.net - not a server issue.

    However, every single person who calls and creates a complaint / ticket - adds negative numbers to some manager's statistics.

    With the decision over year end bonuses soon in most companies - a larger number of complaints gets more attention.
