Default Pitot heat freezing, how can i fix this?

My pitot heat is freezing up on me and that forces my autothrottle to go wild and and force my speed to max to keep me from falling out of the sky causing overspeed and flying too fast at low altitudes then the KIAS reads 0.0 when thsi happens how can i fix this? AND YES I HAVE TURNED THE PITOT HEAT SWITCH ON! flight sim just isnt recognizing that i have done this!

I expect it's the pitot tube that's freezing -- usually that's solved by turning on the pitot heat. There's usually a panel switch for the purpose.

The pitot tube accepts ram air pressure from the aircraft's forward speed to drive the airpseed indicator, and when it freezes you don't get the ram air flowing freely (or at all).

Do you have pitot system or random failures on? Is it only one particular aircraft?

seems to be all aircraft no system failures or pitot system failures on, could Squawkbox be the culprit?

Depending on the aircraft, sometimes you have to cycle it from ON/OFF/ON wait a few seconds and you'll see it work.

My apologies. I did, in fact, not absorb your last sentence. Guess I built a mental block after the first part of your post. Sorry.

reinstall flight sim, if it still does it then its your mistake.

    That is horrible advice!

Long before suggesting to "reinstall," one should simply hold Ctrl-Shift while starting FS9 and allow it to build a new fs9.cfg file.

Ninety-nine percent of one's problems with FS9 are the result of corruption in the fs9.cfg file... ;)

Alternatively, one could rename the existing fs9.cfg file then start the sim. It will build a new fs9.cfg and then one can test for the problem again. If not solved, then it is time to (perhaps) think about a "reinstall" of the flight sim...

So why did you say its horrible advice if its the second thing you would advise? Its one or the other!
