Default An oldie needs your help

Hi from Down Under and the oldest un-retired pilot in the southern skies.
Here's my problem: I'm flying along usually on AP and decide for whatever reason that I'm tired of that flight and will start off anew. I maybe take an already loaded flight or create a new one. Different aircraft, different departure/arrival airports, weather etc.
However, when the new flight opens up, the exact same speed, altitude, heading etc. as the previous flight are displayed and the aircraft goes careering through the passenger terminal and speeding at maybe 300kts into the countryside.
Can someone enlighten this old pensioner how to fix this problem occuring?
    Appreciate it.

Before terminating your flight, disengage AP CMD and autothrottle if you have that on, also bring your throttles back to idle unless you are starting a flight in the air.

    Welcome !

Or maybe try resetting the flight - if it was started on the ground (semicolon key) - then switch to another craft - be aware that changing between non-default or add-on craft can muck things up for the incoming panel/sim and crew.

You can avoid all of the above by opening an already saved flight setup as
    .- on the ground -
    .- engines off -
    .- airspeed under 5 kts :o
    .- default plane -
then switching to your desired flight and aircraft.

LOL - those folks on the ground (and cows in the fields) must love it when you come to town, Captain :)

    Cheers,
    Kelly
