    Default performance

I just installed FS2004 and it runs terable. It runs like it is in slow motion.... I have no problems with FS98 or FS2002 and have uninstalled and reinstalled to no availe.
    System is:
    AMD Athlon XP2000+ 1.6ghrz 1gg RAM
    512gb of memory
NVIDIA GeForce 3 TI200 video card with 64mg
    Am I missing something???

It is your card!! 64mb won't cut it!! You might put all
sliders to the left and get some out of it!!

Kill all the back ground processes and uninstall Realplayer!!

    Update time!!

    P4 3.0ghz
    2gb ram
    ATI 9600XT 256mb

    With 10 running processes!!

Fs2004 is a very demanding piece of software and can give quite a work-out to some very high end systems. While your system is above the minumum requirements listed for FS2004, it is, IMO, near the low end of the scale to run it very well.

Suggestion - go into your display settings. In each section (Scenery, Aircraft, Weather) select Minimal in the Global quality dropdown menu and then work your way up from there trying a flight after each change.
Hopefully you will find a setting that is acceptable given the limitations of your system.

    Hi,

another suggestion: adjust AI traffic to 0%. Use a clear sky weather theme. It might take some load off of your processor.

Why did you post this twice hours apart? Didn't you like the first set of replies?

(MGH,How come you did not reply on his previous post? Eh? (haha)).

Listen to Kimber-she gets 116 fps (ie: knows her stuff). She says to turn off processes, and the program 'FSAutoStart' will HELP (but does not do it all) when it comes to shuting down processes before starting FS9. You should be careful with processes if you opt to stop or disable them manually, as you can stop Windows AND FS9 from working. Then your FPS will be zero (ha).

Get a better video card, is good advice, too. I have a ATI Radeon 9200 AGP with 128 mb that works very good, and is not expensive.
