Default CH Flight Sim Yoke Config., Scenery, and Flight Videos.

Hello. I am kind of new to the whole flight sim community but have quickly been drawn in within the past month. Already I have picked up FS 2004, Falcon 4.0 AF, the CH flight sim yoke and rudder pedals and now I can't seem to put this simulator or flight reading materail down. I can see myself having a full cockpit in my living room by next summer since I want to become a pilot soon. First, I have a few more months of medical school to finish but I will study flight along with that. I have been sucked in every since a classmate of mine took me up in his plane and gave me some instructions.

Anyway, I have a few questions.

1)Can someone suggest to me convenient button assignments for the CH Flight Sim Yoke. I know it may not be as convenient for me but I still want to try them.

2). Where can I get an excellent USA scenery upgrade pack for FS2004? I don't care if it is free or pay; I just want some breath-taking visuals when I am flying, especially in my hometown of Chicago.

3). Where can I get a video that explains the basic mechanics, instruments, and physics of flying such as what you find in the Learning Center of FS2004? I know the Learning Center has a lot but I am much more of a visual learner and can digest and retain the material much more quickly if I am watching it on video. Preferably, this video or videos will also teach about ATC, radios, taxiing, etc,.

    Thanks.

Welcome to this diversion, or whatever it is, and these forums.

As a suggestion and a starting point, I have my yoke set up as follows:

Left rocker switch - elevator trim
Red buttons next to left rocker - raise and lower seat
Left "trigger" button - return seat to default position
Right rocker switch - rudder trim
    Right "trigger" button - kneeboard
Inner toggle on yoke body - landing gear
Outer toggle on yoke body - flaps
Throttle, propeller, and mixture levers left as default.

The Aeronautical Information Manual is just the tip of the FAA iceberg:

Many have found the following site instructive for navigation:

I found this one interesting. A work in progress apparently:

Airport and approach data from the FAA can be found at:
    http://naco.faa.gov/index.asp?xml=naco/online/d_tpp

Airnav has a wealth of information on airports and navaids:
    http://www.airnav.com/

FS Genesis is just one of several sources for add-on scenery mesh:

Just a start, and don't overlook Google!

P.S. Rod is FUNNY!!!...You will learn allot...He is excellant!!

However The stuff I'm familar with would be most benifical after you have completed Ground school...ie: He may be a "TAD" advanced...But you WILL learn...and Laugh..

I havn't heard/seen all of his stuff...so my comment may be way off base too...
