Thread: Aircraft taxis in tight circles

Default Aircraft taxis in tight circles

Has anybody seen a situation where an aircraft taxis in tight circles (to the right) as if a brake is stuck?

I even had this happen to an amphibian floating in the water!

It doesn't happen all the time, and an exit/restart will usually fix it.

    Brakes are not on.

    Any ideas?

Turn on all engines, if the left one is off, the plane will turn left, same with right etc.

    Center rudder trim always

If an exit/restart does the trick than chances are 98% that it's your joystick.

    Hello

One thing you can check out on a wheel plane and twin, do an engine run up after you get the engines started while holding the brakes.

Whatch the rpms on both engines. They should be together. If not you probably will find the the plane with turn in the direction of the non producing engine. I have the same problem and it always seems to be the right engine or right side. I have not got this problem licked.

I have asked about the starting procedure and no matter what procedure I use, I have problems with the right side on twins.

So I end up restarting the sim.

You might see the prop turning, but the runup will show that the engine is not producing the power.

I don't know if you watched them that close.

I should point out that this is happening with single engine light aircraft.

The suggestion of a stuck brake is a good one, but I'd expect to see the differential brake indication in the cockpit view.

The other interesting point is that it sometimes happens to an amphibian floating in the water! Wheels are up and brakes should not have any effect.

Next time it happens, I'll disable the joystick and see if that cures it.

    Any other suggestions? All appreciated.

On amphib, check the fuel load out. Balance problem may indicate fuel or load being out of balance, especially if you switched ACs. Just my 2 cents worth.

I have had this happen occasionally, and my first step is to hit ALT,
Options, Controls, click, select your joystick name, click OK. You should now see a small popup window with two tabs: Calibrate and Test.

Click on the calibrate tab and follow the on-screen instructions. It's very simple (if I can do it, so can you!) Takes about two minutes and has worked for me everytime.

    Best of luck,
