Thread: PSS Airbus Electrics Failure

  1. #1

    Default PSS Airbus Electrics Failure

    I've read about this problem in a couple of places, but haven't seen a solution to it yet that didn't involve having the registered version of FSUIPC. The problem is that within a few minutes of turning on the batteries, usually as I am programming the FMC, the electrics fail. I've read that this is a battery problem, but I don't know how to fix it. Any help would be most appreciated.

    Thanks.

    This is probably a stupid question, but have you started the APU?

    Yes, started the APU, but it makes no difference. And it seems like this problem is more predominant on the A340.

    I had a problem once in the A340 where I couldn't speak to the tower or anyone else - I figured out that (I THINK - don't quote me on this) it was because the APU GEN button on the overhead needs to be left alone, not pressed, otherwise it'll cut you off - I don't think this button exists in the smaller buses though.

    Is it just the PSS airbus or is it all aircraft?

    It's only the PSS aircraft. I ended up registering my copy of FSUIPC to fix it, but odd that I had to do that. Fortunately I'll gain some benefits elsewhere by having the registered version too.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've heard that the FS2004 versions of the PSS Airbus A32x didn't have the proper electronics implementations when it came to the APU. Even though the panel saw it as connected and providing power, when it came down to it, it wasn't connected in the sim - therefore you were draining battery power until you started the engines.

    MSFS's aircraft batteries are apparently not very powerful, as they run out before you can get basic flight planning and preparation done before startup.

    I think the *ONLY* solution is to either start the engines immediately (or not start cold n' dark), or use FSUIPC (registered) to extend the battery life. I have used the full FSUIPC for a while now, and this was one of the main reasons why I bought it.

    What I have done since the 3xx series is add the following four lines to my panel.cfg file - (gauges 01-04)

    Window03-(3XX) or Window04-(330&340)
    file=DOWN.BMP
    size_mm=1024
    position=3
    visible=0
    ident=THROTTLE_PANEL

    gauge00=PSS-A320!Pedestal, 309, 0, 715
    gauge01=737-400!Audio, 739,711,162,29
    gauge02=cessna208!Avionics-Switch, 480,750,13
    gauge03=cessna208!Battery-Switch, 460,750,13
    gauge04=cessna208!Generator-Switch, 440,750,13

    After powering the APU make sure all three switches are "up" and the problem goes away (at least for me). Also adds aa Audio selector which you don't have to, of course.

    Good luck.
