Thread: Here's a new (?) idea for a view window????

Default Here's a new (?) idea for a view window????

It occurred to me earlier today that, while we have several new views available to us including the moveable tower view and the more recent wing views, there is another view that would be great, but I have not seen mentioned. Forgive me if someone has already thought of this, but I haven't seen it anywhere.

How about a "From the Gate View". You would view your airliner coming to the gate or departing it like somebody standing inside the terminal looking out the window (Even though the 9/11 disaster has made this a thing of the past at most airports since only ticketed passengers can go to the gates.)

I'm not an airliner fan myself but thought this might be an interesting project from someone. Can't be harder than replacing the tower can it?

Hope my idea isn't a bore to you guys. I thought it was a pretty neat one - is that still acceptable slang for you younger guys?

    Regards to all,

    Paul

It's already part of the sim since you are able to move the tower's position to any place you wish. Just use the "tower view" from the new position...

    Even more than that:

cjcr005c.zip at the other site is precisely what I belive you had in mind. I've seen another file like that for Meigs field so I guess it's not a generic modification but is applyable only for a specific airport.
    Unfortunately.
    But it's something, right?

How do you move the tower view?

    Thanks for the replies.

I figured that the moveable tower view might do the trick.

I haven't used the moveable tower view myself so maybe someone can refer others to where it's instructions can be located.

    Thanks again,

    Paul

You can move the tower view by going to the Map, from the World menu, and dragging it.

It would be nice if we could use the Slew controls to move the tower view - or maybe we can and I haven't found out yet.

FS FlyBy module has what it calls the "Plane Spotters" View. Just move or slew your plane to any place you like (say inside a terminal), click on the plane spotters check box and the next time you flip thru your views it will be from that locked position.

The addon is in the library. filename: flyby.zip by Valery Stenin.
