Thread: Control AI traffic, eliminate go arounds

  1. Default Control AI traffic, eliminate go arounds

    Hello fellow flyers..

It's the weekend, and here is a possible way to make FS more enjoyable? I have learned of a programme called AI Smooth from SG Flightware in Germany.. It is freeware and designed to bring in air traffic separation at busy airports by seeing potential traffic conflicts and redirecting traffic accordingly. Most important is the ability to thin traffic on the final approach and apply separation in order to prevent busy airports having aircraft approaching in formation. Apparently aircraft are sent to a holding point where they will hold until clear for an approach. The holding points are currently at a nominal position but in due course will be selectable as to where they are placed.

Has anybody tried this yet and got any feedback??

I've had it for the last month and a half now, ever since it went into "Public Beta," and have enjoyed it immensely.

I like it so much that I have set it up to load automatically whenever I start the sim.

    Hi

I have install the latest version 1.0 of AISmooth and it works wonderful. Great work. You need also to install FSUIPC version 3.48.
Thanks to Michael Sagner at Solingen-Germany.

Ah - does it work with add-on AI like ProjectAI?

    I'm intrigued.

    Hi,

Works with any and all your AI flights, no matter where they came from!

    Hope this helps,

Mine didn't work, flushed it down the drain. I hate wasting time on junk.

What didn't work? It didn't send AI planes into a holding pattern?

    Hope this helps,

There is a minor error in the link that SG Flightware created for downloading AI Smooth (one of the slashes faces backward). This one should do it:

Now I can hardly wait to try it out!

I tried it sitting on the ground facing the oncoming traffic. It held everything not occassionally releasing one of the held aircraft so it all backed up as if the airport was closed. This is KMSP parallel active runways 120/l/r with winds at 170/6 (from AS2K4.5 of course).

My TCAS also showed several targets static within a mile. Anyway with dense inbound traffic it really backed up. It needs a setting to set a release time interval on a first-in first-out basis. I have not had the opportunity to test on an inbound flight but perhaps I am misunderstanding its function.
