    Default Modifying default scenery

Hey guys, I'm just starting to get my feet wet in the scenery design thing, and I've been having trouble finding a straight answer to a question I have by looking at past message threads. So, I thought I'd post my specific problem to see if I could get this thing resolved. Anyway, I recently started playing around with AFCAD2 to modify the parking at the default Atlanta Hartsfield. However, I'm noticing that a lot of that default ground equipment scattered all over the ramp is interfering with my gate placement (i.e. tugs and trucks directly on parking lines), as well as the default jetways not corresponding with my parking spots. Is there a simple way I can just delete the ground equipment that is getting in the way as well as delete all of the gates in the default scenery? After that, I'd like to add my own gates so that they correspond correctly with the parking spaces that I've created. Can I do this with the Rwy12 Object Placer program?

Also, I was wondering if it might be possible to modify the default terminal buildings at ATL by, among other things, making them shorter. Those concourse buildings are just WAY too tall.

Any and all help would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

    Andy

    Hi,

    1. The ground equipment are library objects. These can be excluded in a given area by using ExcBuilder, and checking the Library Objects box.

    2. If the jetways are library objects, see #1. If not, try some other categories in ExcBuilder.

    3. Yes, you can add gates with Rwy12. Download the Jetway Library available at the usual places.

    4. You cannot edit default buildings, but you can exclude the originals with ExcBuilder (Generic Buildings?) and then create your own in a scenery program like SceneGenX.

    Hope this helps,

Thanks for the info, Tom. I'll have to check out the ExcBuilder program to at least get rid of the ground equipment and jetways. As for the terminal buildings, I may just have to leave them for now until I can get proficient enough with a scenery design program.

    Thanks again!

If I'm not mistaken, you should also be able to get rid of the default jetways and ground objects by setting your scenery complexity in FS9 to Normal or below.

    Hi,

    Yes, this is another approach.

The Dense setting works for me to remove jetways at all the default airports I've tried.

    Hope this helps,
