I'm just curious if anyone else has seen this.

I have the water effects slider set half way up, I don't have the sim running right now, but I believe that is just water and not land effects.

Anyway, when I select a flight, for about the first 5 to 10 min. the water is a light blue color, then suddenly turns a rich blue that looks much more realistic. This is the case for both lakes and oceans. I am running the USA Waters from FS Freeware, and never really noticed this before installing that package.

I'm just wondering what could delay a texture load like this.

I've also got to say that this forum is priceless. Just paging through it gives me answers to questions I didn't even know I had. It is like attending a class on the nuances of FS9. It is nice to be able to share what I have learned using MSFS and flying for real over the years.

Also, I have learned so much more about the ins and outs of the sim itself. It has really expanded my enjoyment of the whole MSFS experience. Perhaps the moderators carve that stuff out, but I have not seen any of the flames or sarcastic remarks that are so previlent in some of the other forums. Everyone seems to truly want to help other simmers enjoy the hobby more. Thanks to everyone who participates in this great resource.
