Thread: default aircraft landing

  1. Default default aircraft landing

I was doing a short flight from FLL to MIA in a baron aircraft. As I got closer to MIA, ATC directed me towards runway 8. One of the FS2004 default aircraft (Pacifica MD83) was behind me. I'm trying to figure out why they would have receivd clearance to land ahead of me on the same runway. Shortly after they were cleared, I was cleared for the same runway. I was just about ready to touchdown when ATC tells me to go around. I was watching the default aircraft, and it was attempting to land on the ground to the left of the runway. It somehow at the last minute touched down on the runway but then proceeded to cross it at an angle as though it were heading from the runway to the taxiway without turning. It then made a few circles and came back on the runway and then proceeded to its parking spot. If this aircraft was behind me, why did they get clearance to go overhead and land in front of me?

Welcome to the world of FS ATC and AI. It just does weird things some times. I have been cleared to land MANY times when other aircraft are doing the same.

The AI landing is kinda interesting, though AI pilots tend to do some pretty crazy stuff.

I've never seen the FS aircraft do this before, but then I haven't seen that many FS aircraft before because I usually keep the traffic slider turned down.

I've had em fly over me, thru me, and under me. Yet if I was number one in the pattern for landing, it was they who got the go around not me. Hell! If they wanna play like that, go ahead and land anyway as long as you don't fly up their butt. FS9 doesn't give out fines for breaking the rules, not even a slap on the wrist. All I ever get is, "Dummy! You were not cleared to land."

Computers are high-speed-idiots ... what do you think the I in AI stands for?

    Hi,

The simple fact is that the first plane to be cleared to land will land first - others will usually be told to go around.

Once another plane is cleared to land before I am, I circle back around behind that plane. Or I fire up the AI Explorer (correct name?) and delete the offending plane. :)

    Hope this helps,

Practicing slow S turns or a couple 360's is good for your flying skills!! :-)

It's just that Tom's planes take a cubic mile to get turned around.
