    In brief, you must click settings on the opening screen and then goto "Scenery Library" and activate it from there, unless its an AFCAD file? then just add the .bgl file into the Addon Scenery/Scenery Folder.......

    Sorry cant be more specific, but all the help files are included with FS2004

    Regards

    There's a good and very clear article on "Installing Freeware Aircraft Into FS2004" in issue 26 (Jan Feb '04)of PC Pilot. You can easily modify the install by substituting "Scenery" for "Aircraft" in the final process. Thre are other articles by Andew Herd in WWW.flightsim.com?cgi/kds$=main/howto/fs2004air.

    Thanks for give me an idea but actualy I do not have problems installing the aircrafts but only scenerys are my problem. When I download a new scenery(ea. KEWR ) I got the main folder and inside two more, one scenery folder and one texture folder and my problem is where to put those folders, either on the main Addon Scenery or in a diferente place. So if you can clear that I real appreciate.
    Looks like stupid question but what can we expect from a novice.
    Thanks.

    It sounds like you are close.

    You should keep the set up of a main folder that contains two more, scenery and texture. Where on your system you put the main folder is entirely up to you. To keep things organized, I like to drag the main folder to the "addon scenery" folder that was created when you install flight sim, but the game doesn't care.

    To have flight sim use the new scenery, you have to "add" the scenery. This means that a new entry has to be placed in the scenery.cfg file located within the flight simulator 9 folder. This can be done using a text editor, but it is better to use the settings --> scenery library menu within flight sim. To do this the safest way proceed like this:

    BASIC SCENERY INSTALL

    1. Start flight sim. While the sim is loading, take note if there are any progress bars shown with heading of "rebuilding scenery database" or simular. If you see any of these, after the sim finishes loading exit and restart. You should not see this the second time. This means that the scenery database is in a known condition prior to adding your new scenery. (In flight sim 9, scenery is only updated when the sim starts.)

    2. Now at the opening menu, click on settings, and then scenery library..., and then add area.... This will bring up a file browser dialog, and you can navigate to the place where you moved the scenery main folder, highlight it, and click OK. You should see your scenery area at the top of the list of scenery, with a check in the "active" box. At this point you can exit out of the scenery library and exit flight sim.

    3. Restart flight sim 9. You should see the progress bar showing that the scenery database is being updated and new files added. In many cases that is all you have to do.

    CAUTION!!!

    The basic method works for many addon sceneries, but in some cases there is additional work required. You MUST look for a reademe file from the addon author to determine if more work is required. The following are typical actions the author needs you to take:

    1. Edit scenery.cfg to add one or both of the following command lines:

    Flatten=
    Exclude=

    To do this open scenery.cfg in notepad, and scroll down to the bottom.
    You whould see some lines like this, except the title should match the name of the sceenry area you just added:

    /Area.080/
    Title=Washington Dulles (KIAD) by SimFlyers
    Local=SimFlyers\KIAD
    Remote=
    Required=FALSE
    Active=TRUE
    Layer=80

    Copy the Flatten= and Exclude= lines from the readme file, and paste them after the Layer line, so it looks like this:

    /Area.080/
    Title=Washington Dulles (KIAD) by SimFlyers
    Local=SimFlyers\KIAD
    Remote=
    Required=FALSE
    Active=TRUE
    Layer=80
    Exclude=N38 59 08 27,W77 30 19 13,N38 54 46 73,W77 25 36 20,all
    Flatten.0=313,N38 59 08 27,W77 30 19 13,N38 59 08 27,W77 25 36 20,N38 54 46 73,W77 25 36 20,N38 54 46 73,W77 30 19 13

    then save the edited file and close notepad.

    2. The scenery readme may require that a scenery library of trees or nova or nova gold or perhaps other things must be installed. Most all of these are located as part of flightsim.com "must have" files, but it might take some hunting to locate all the ones you need.

    3. Airport scenery contains a file which manages runway and taxiway characteristics. By convention, this file is called an "AFCAD" (named for the program widely used to make changes in it) and also by convention, this file is named something like "AF2_KEWR.BGL". Some authors will provide multiple versions of this file (or a related file but in FS2002 format) and you will have to select the one you want and remove the others. Again, the readme is your guide on this.

    4. The worst case is where default files have to be removed or replaced. Until you are comfortable installing scenery, I don't recommend trying to use one of these addons.
