Thread: What do you use as your sky color with FSW.......?

  1. Default What do you use as your sky color with FSW.......?

Do you use fixed dawn and dusk texture the same texture for sunrise and sunset or a specific dawn and dusk set, tell me which ones you like the most?

I'm trying to find the right combo for the clouds to appear detailed and white on a deep blue sky color, since the contrast here makes a big difference.

One thing i did notice during sunrise was the snowy winter textures loading as the sun is rising by daylight all winter textures are drawn properly around my aircraft, this is with specific dawn and dusk and a deep clolor sky set. As opposed to before i used a skyset i believe it was set 1 and i did not have the winter texture problem.

That's really almost an impossible question to answer as far as someone saying what the "right combo" is. Use what looks good to you. The reason is different monitors are going to display the colors and intensity differently, etc, and your gamma, contrast, and brightness settings for your monitor could also affect what you see on your monitor vs what someone else is seeing on their's. If you already use multiple monitors that are from different manufacturers, you probably already notice this on your different monitors. If you don't, next time you are in store where monitors are sold, look at the difference between the same displays on monitors that are sitting side-by-side. "Deep blue" on one is gonna look a lot different on the next in many cases.

You guys just reminded me of something. Ever since I loaded up FSW add-on when it first came out (what was that several months ago?), I have only used one set of clouds, one color of sky, and the total black night (which by the way is awesom).

I have been so happy with look that I haven't even tried another cloud set yet! And look how many there are to choose from. Got to try a new variant. ;)

I actually still prefer the old fs9skytext.zip by Nils Danielsson over the options provided with FSW. Your mileage may vary.
