Thread: Chopper Help?

  1. Default Chopper Help?

    Hey guys/gals,

How's everyone doing? So to keep the flight simming experience continually diversified I have decided to venture off into chopper flying. I figured there would be no better place to start than with the basic Robinson R22 Beta trainer. So I've somewhat mastered basic turns and smooth takeoffs. However, landings and hovering the small bird are driving me absolutely insane. My hovering always results in the chopper moving around sparatically as I try to balance the controls and the landings end up like a Cessna; sliding into the grass versus a vertical touchdown. Can anyone provide any insight into chopper flying in FS? I use the CH yoke as well as the Sidewinder joystick and the CH pedals. I am also slightly confused on engine operation, as at full power the "Low RPM" light goes on in the Beta. What parameters are used for cruise? How does one transition from cruise to hover?

I appreciate everyone's cooperation and assistance in advance. I suppose I'm just trying to keep my simming exciting by throwing in new challenges. Thanks!

I'd recommend you find the modified Bell 206 by Steve Hanley. I'm not sure of the exact file name, but it offers a much more stable, easier to fly air file for the default Bell.
