Default Help, I've lost my fs9.cfg file

Just did a format, fresh XP install and new FS9 install.

Now, I can't find my fs9.cfg files although FS runs ok.

I know they were originally in c:\documments and settings\name, etc but now, after "name" there is no reference to microsoft, or games, or fs9, nothing - zilch.

Nor can I find it in the FS9 folder.

I have to say that this XP installation is totally different from my previous install.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    How about after Name/Application Data/Microsoft/FS9?

Nope, I don't get the Application Data/Microsoft/FS9? bit after my name.

Have you ran FS since the format and install? The FS9.cfg file isn't created until it is ran once.

    This is from the FAQ's:

    4. Where did the FS configuration file go?

For Windows XP users the fs9.cfg file is now located in Drive_Letter:\Documents and Settings\User_Name\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9. This is a hidden folder by default so you need to modify the folder options via the control panel: go to the view tab and check the "Show hidden files and folders" option

For Windows 9x users the fs9.cfg file is located in Drive_Letter:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9

If you access this file often, you may wish to run a shortcut to it on either your desktop, or in the main Flight Simulator 9 folder.

    Yep, Randy.

I just discovered that folders can be hidden as well as files. I'd just found this out and discovered my "Application Data" folder is there after all.

Thanks to all you guys for the rapid response.

No solution - just a word of consolation:

A week or so ago, there was a thread like "I've lost my boeing 747"

So... you lost your .cfg file?
No big deal, imagine how felt the guy who lost his Jumbo Jet!
