Thread: Kittyhawk 737 fuel capacity

    Default Kittyhawk 737 fuel capacity

I am trying to fly a new route that Southwest Airlines started out of Islip Long Island. It is a nonstop flight from Islip (KISP) to Las Vegas (KLAS) using a 737-700, when I try this flight using the Kittyhawk 737-700 I run out of fuel over western Colorado. I'm sure SW has equiped this 737 with extra fuel tanks, what changes can I make to the Aircraft cfg so the Kittyhawk can hold the fuel?

    Thanks

You can simply add the appropriate tanks in the aircraft.cfg file, in the 'fuel' section. Use the AircraftContainerSDK document to set the appropriate parameters. The extra fuel will make your plane heavier, so you may need to juggle the MOI figures as well...

Sounds like the fuel burn numbers (fuel flow scalar) are incorrect. Also remember a strong headwind, and throttles "burried to the firewall" at a low altitude (-30K ft) is a recipe for a very short flight. I could probably get the PMDG -700 fully loaded, from NYC pretty close to Anchorage Alaska cruising around .76 mach @ FL360 with a moderate headwind.

There is a program on the PMDG site that gives the fuel burn for the 737 series.

These birds do not have extra tanks, just the wing and center tanks. Remember that it has to have enough fuel for the flight to KLAS then to an alternate and 45 minutes of reserve.

Note: I have made the run from KALB to KLAS and back a number of times non-stop for real. Takes about 5-1/2 hours westbound and averages 5 hours eastbound.
