VTP Tools & FSUIPC.DLL - Can't seem to Connect? Why?

I am trying to work with VTP Tools, a freeware package from Dietmar Frenzl. They looked like a simple enough package of tools to do some road and water work for scenery in FS2004. I have difficulty using the scenery forum, and thought I could get a quick answer in this forum.

It is important that they link up with FS in slew mode, but I can't seem to get a connection.

Am I wasting my time, should I be using some other tools? Ie like Ground 2K4 and Coast Line Maker?

Do I have to have a registered copy of FSUIPC for these tools to work?

Any help would be appreciated.

For FS9 be sure you are using one of the 3.1xx or later versions of FSUIPC. Current is 3.44.

If the program author has not obtained a freeware self-registration for FSUIPC you may be required to obtain a payware registration for it.

I am not familiar with the other tools so I can't answer whether those other applications include registration.

That being said for control mapping, special FS toggle functions outside of the selection available from the FS assignments screen, and calibration enhancements, I find the full version of FSUIPC well worth its cost. Its weather fixes and enhancements available even without an external program are another reason. It is a well designed multi-function add-on utility.

I am using the most recent version. The tools I have are pre the module becoming payware for full registration I think. I am only speculating that they aren't working because of that change. They did work before with the free version.

I have been toying with buying a fully registered version, except I am finding myself putting lots of money into my Flightsimming hobby these days and keep asking my self maybe I should be saving it for retirement...lol:)
