Thread: Crew and Cabin Announcements

  1. Default Crew and Cabin Announcements

Hi all. I've flown countless hours on jetliners in real life; Southwest 737s being the chunk of those hours. Once I step onto that aircraft and buckle up, I'm just along for the ride. I'm not having to worry about departure procedures and such like I have to when I'm flying in FS9. Thus, I notice things I would otherwise miss. For instance, all those crew and cabin announcements. "Flight attendents, prepare for pushback." "Ladies and Gentlemen, good afternoon. I'm Linda Hart, the senior flight attendent on this flight. I'd like to welcome you aboard Southwest flight 388 with nonstop service to Houston. I'd like to direct your attention up front while we go over our safety procedures..." "...80knts...V1...Vr Rotate...V2...Positive rate, gear up." "Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. This is your captain speaking. We've reached our cruise altitude of..." "Ladies and gentlemen, the captain has turned off the fasten seatbelt sign..." I never hear any of that stuff in FS9.

I THINK I've seen add-ons that take care of this, but I don't remember what they were. Does anyone know of any such add-ons?

    Thanks!

Very interesting. Right here in the file libraries, do a search for "audio" and then maybe "cabin announcement"...

And then I found [a href="http://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?$=main/review/s-combo/s-combo.htm"]this review[/a] of S-Combo on-site. Given that it is for FS2000, I can't say how well it works with FS2004, but it does sound promising.

There a few freeware panels that include cabin announcements such as you mentioned. The one I use for all my 737s is designed by Bruce Benaway which contains ten cabin announcements from Departure Gate to Arrival Gate. Just do a search under the designer's name and you should come up with this panel. Follow the installation instructions accurately and you should have no problems. It really does add some realism to your flights.

Nice to see this issue raised once more. I used to use GPWS for FS98 and The Ultimate Airliner Envrionment for FS98 in the old days.

    But for FS2004/FS9 I found:

    FSCopilot version 1 RC2 for FS2002 and FS2004
    http://www.mcdu.com/en/index.php?Inc=softwares

This installs with ease and has Descent Calls, Terrain Warning, Flaps, Glide Slope etc.

It didn't offer me anything in the way of cabin crew drills and the like so I found this:

FS2002 Crew And Cabin Announcement Gauge Set on this site Search for anncgau.zip on www.flightsim.com

There are better ones then this but it works well.

Thanks Mojo2000 for the link to S-Combo it may well provide the take-off speed calls I'm seeking.

There is also an update to S-Combo for FS2004

Flightdeck Sound Effects Panel (FDSFXPNL.ZIP). Crew announcements but no sppeed calls. A freebie.

How good is FDC? I've read about it, but that's a big chunk of change and I'm not sure if I'm willing to buy something that expensive. Putting that much money on a flight sim addon is a big gamble.

I tried out Captain Sim's Legendary 727. That thing kicks #####! I love the way it goes through checklists. I also like the cabin calls, but I would like to be able to add my own voice, and use that on more than just one aircraft.

I also tried to install S-Combo. Looks like you have to install the first version, then the second, and finally the third one to get it to work with FS9. However, I couldn't even get the first one installed--I keep getting an error during the install process.

    Any other ideas?

I remember Those good days of DreamFleet2000 737 for 2k2 which had all the Stuff you were talking about built into the A/C

It's a Shame that DF2000 won't consider upgrade to 2k4. Heck, they can Do a new one and i still would buy it.
