Is there some significance as to the runway numbers chosen for the runway seen at the bottom of most of the flightsim.com pages...

I would guess that it simply has to do with the orientation of the runway on the page and the tradtional view that east is right (hence rwy 9) and west is left (hence rwy 27).

Sometimes the answer really is that simple!

You'd be surprised how many people have told me it's wrong though because they read it as runway 6 and runway 27 :-)
