    Default Problem with new C-172 Panel

    Hi everybody,

    Last week, I installed a third party freeware panel for the default Cessna 172. Anyway, when I fly the 172, I have lost the VC, and the new panel will not "stretch" to the correct size, I have to manually stretch it with the mouse.

    I would like to restore my default C-172 Panel back to the sim. Is there any easy way to do this without re-installing the entire sim?

    Many thanks

    Andrew.

    Andrew -

    Easy to fix. The C172 panel can be found in this path on CD#1: MSGAME1.CAB\Aircraft\C172\Panel . Just copy the Panel folder from the CD into the FS9 C172 folder and all will be well again.

    Also remember, if you want to try out a new panel or soundset and are not sure if you want to keep it or not, rename the old panel or sound folder first. If you rename them something like panel.old or sound.old then you can install the new stuff, try it out and if you don't like it, delete it and rename the old folders back to original.

    Another way is to add a new panel or sound folder just like the texture folders

    panel.1
    sound.1

    Then modify the aircraft.cfg &l;Flightsim.X&r; section to use the new panel or sound folder:

    panel=1
    sound=1

    Lastly, Is that a Citabria in your signature picture? I was close to getting my tailwheel endorsement in an Air Orlando Citabria until it was damaged by hurricane Charlie.

    Hi Andrew,

    The advice given by All, in the above reply(s), are good.......However You may want to copy the entire C172 Aircraft Folder from the CD, to Your FS9/Aircraft Folder, as the "Panel" has nothing to do with the "Virtual" Panel on the C172S. ........So to correct BOTH problems, You need the entire Aircraft.

    BTW > What panel did You Install?

    I bet it was your panel Randy ! Though I've had no problems with it. By the way, I seem to remember that you created your panels in what seems to be a more hard way. Did you ever come accross CFG edit?

    Hi Ian,

    Yeah, I was wondering if it was My Panel.......Odd though, The 3D virtual cockpit is in the Model cfg. I did send an Aircraft cfg. file with Mine, but not a Model file......Don't understand how adding a 2D panel (any) could remove the virtual panel.

    No, haven't looked for "CFG edit"..........Hard to teach an "Old Dog" new tricks! LOL
