Thread: Seaplanes, getting "on the step"

Default Seaplanes, getting "on the step"

Hi all, I'm just reading up on flying (real) seaplanes. Does anyone know if FS mimics the behavior of going "on the step" and respond to proper (or improper) handling?

Or is the water just a moving runway, and I should nail the throttle and take off like I was on dry land?

I figure if the behavior is modeled in the sim, I might as well try it out.

    Thanks!

While it does not look like it, the water is a flat surface in FS...You can just slam the throttle to the firewall and takeoff..

    I know: It doesn't.

Cool. Thanks for the answers. Maybe we'll get better seaplane simulation in FS2006.
