Default .vid to AVI or MPG

good day all, i got a question for all of you flight simmers that tweak up fs2000 and all that good stuff.(i guess i would be asking myself) Well, ive been trying to do this for many months but cannot get the hang of it. How in the world, do you change a fs2000 video (.vid) to something like a Microsoft Player video? I but its more than changing the .vid to .avi (tried it and dont work) so any help would be appreciated. I would love to send some videos to my friends and family and show them what i have been up to. Well, thanx again.

Vid files generated by fs2000 aren't really video files. They just contain flight info. I would suggest that you get a copy of Camtasia recorder from www.techsmith.com. Its a shareware utility and can record just about anything & generate the video into avi format. Be sure that you have a fast system with lots of ram if u wish to record fs2000 videos otherwise the videos would be slow & choppy.

The "Video" in the FS98/2K .Vid file is NOT a succesion of
still images that are played back quickly to form a moving
image. They are a succesion of "physical parameters" like
a flight data recorder that are played back. You'll notice
that FS98/2K "videos" don't show you the same panel the
pilot recording the video flew with.

There's no way to convert FS98/2K videos to .AVI format. You
would be better off trying to find a commercial screen capture
utility that saved in AVI format.
