Thread: Adding taxiways

    Default Adding taxiways

    Hi guys

Having landed at a less used airfield in southern Germany I found that there was just a runway.I know with the number of airfields available in FS9 that it would be impossible to give them all taxiways. Is there a program available to add a taxiway even just to vacate the runway. I know there are programs for creating scenery buildings etc.

    regards

    Hi,

Would it be possible to use AFCAD2 to put extra runways and taxiways

    Once again thanks

Well you have to think of AFCAD2 as this, its just directions it doesnt effect the actual display of the scenery, so yes you could add a taxiway with afcad2, and the flights going into this airfield would use it. The only thing is, it actually wouldnt be there. Now the only way to add a taxiway, or more runways is with a scenery creator and use afcad2 to add them in for the AI.

    Hope that helps

Are you sure about that? I've used Afcad to make runways, taxiways and tarmac areas.

AFCAD2 has properties for runway surface, polygons for aprons, taxiway properties, etc., all visual. This capacity is probably because in FS9 these are .bgl files drawing on standard textures.

The FS2K2 characteristics for AI guidance are retained.

The docs give an example of buiding a new airport (but in the current version without the capacity of buildings).

So yes. Objects denoted as visual types should show up in scenery. Just be sure your AFCAD2 folder item folders have a higher priority and organization like regular scenery folders. For each airport, there should be only one AFCAD2 file above the default base (if any). After the afcad2 .bgl is entered and FS9 is started the scenery index will reindex. Then you can start up AFCAD221, do an airport search by ICAO, and each layer will show up in the selection area.

It is a very good program that is worth learning.
