Thread: Taxiways in FS9 and possible improvements

Default Taxiways in FS9 and possible improvements

Out of the many improvements of FS9, new taxiway system, the ability to visiually edit them was a big one for me. However, while this new system gives us the benefit of smooth taxi line curves, once two or more taxi lines cross, there are lines everywhere! Every taxiway gets a connnection to the other. I find this very annoying.

It is obvious that the new system uses bezier curves for the taxiway lines. It would be very nice to have the lines as a seperate "layer" on top of the tarmac and if we could edit the lines through their anchor points, like in Photoshop. I think it would improve the apron visuals in airports by a great degree.

I hope this somehow gets to MS and they consider, or perhaps even implement, this feature.

    What do you think?

Very good idea, would help clear the mess at some airports.

Have you tried setting the line parameters for the areas that you don't like the overlapping lines? If you select a taxiway segment, you can set the line properties. When you get the mixing bowl effect where various taxiways join, selecting some of the segments and turning off their lines might help.

Naah that's screws up the neighboring section. What I want is more freedom, to access the lines directly.
