    Default FSGenesis and Landclass

I am aware that the subject has been discussed. However I am still not clear on which of the various programs to pick from.

I have the mesh from FSGenesis for the USA (including AK) as well as some other areas around the world.

I would like to add one of the landclass programs. Is ther one that is comprehensive in covering the USA (AK as well) and simple to install.

    I would appreciate any help.

    System:

    2nd v_card ATI 9000 pro @ 128

Hard Drives = 120 and secondary is 40.

    Hard ware=
PFC Cirrus II, external radio stack, pedals

FSGenesis has a freeware beta landclass that covers the US and parts of Canada. It looks great to me and it is easy to install. Works good in FS9 even if it was designed for FS2002...

Not sure you got it... Terrain Enhancement (Mesh) by FSGenesis or by others, refines the elevations of the earth you see below.. It does not define what you see, ie: fields, cities, rivers etc...
38.2m mesh is better than 76.4m because the points of elevation are are closer together... Mountains will have more peaks in them and therefor look more detailed...

Tried to keep the definition simple here...

LandClass is different. It defines what goes on the earth and where. It helps define cities and towns and yes golf courses in a given area...

I use FSGenesis landclass for the USA. However I also have some local LandClass scenery which I layer over FSGs. It is more detailed. This system works very well for me....

You can use either mesh or LC without the other... I suggest you you use both.

Your choice of author, but I recommend FSG, great support. I am sure the others are equally good.........

    kingair,

Your system is way better than mine, but when I installed USA Extreme, I didn't notice any drop in performance. I took several "before" screen shots to compare with, after installing it. I've been pleased so far. To date, I've read about only one elevation problem (spike in terrain) & it has been reported. The data used to make this add-on was developed by Justin Tyme so the products in discussion are all very similar. I was in a software store out of town and spotted USA Extreme on the self that included a bonus disc for Hawaii & Alaska. Have not seen this online yet, only on the shelf. Since I had already pre-ordered mine and received it by then, didn't buy it. But I did contact the company and since mine was registered, they said they'd send me the bonus disc. So when it comes in, I'll have the best of both worlds between products discussed here. USA Extreme comes with the Piper Dakoda that's worth $17 from it's parent company, Carenado and is a fairly popular model of theirs with Dreamfleet's as serious competition to it.

If you want, I'll take any screen shot you wish to compare to yours to help you decide. Here's an "After" pic from the Grand Canyon.
