Thread: CH USB Yoke throttle is only going to like 85% throttle?

  1. Default CH USB Yoke throttle is only going to like 85% throttle?

I dont' know why when I push the inner most throttle level all the way forward on my CH USB Yoke, the throttle of the c172 doesn't go all the way... it only goes about 85%.

Does anybody know why? is there a way to fix this?

    Did you calibrate it?

yeah I calibrated it and this fixed the Throttle axis, but now the Mixture Axis isn't going all the way when I push the lever all the way forward.

BTW, if you look at the controller from left to right I have the axis's set up like this: throttle, mixture, airelon trim

I dont' know if this makes a difference

It shouldn't matter. There are sensitivity settings in FlightSim itself that can affect it even if it's calibrated, though. You might want to check those.

yeah there is ONLY a sensitivity setting for the 'throttle' axis. Not the Prop or the Mixuture axises.

If you've got it installed as the Yoke USB and not the Yoke LE (which is the same but only has the throttle lever) then you probably just need to scroll the list. Click on the arrows beside the thing, you should be able to get to the other two axes.

duh.... stupid me... I totally didn't see there were scroll boxes...

there was a deadzone set for the mixture axis, that might of been the reason it wasn't going to 100%

by the way, do you need a CH Map for this?

You have to watch out for that. FS always likes to set sensitivities to zero when you assign a new axis. You don't need to have a CH Map but it can be handy. For example, you don't want the same control settings the Cessna and the 747. You can use different maps for different planes to customize the button assignments.

LIke how do these maps work? meaning right now I have all my buttons assigned to certain aircraft functions in FS2004 and I am not using a map. My buttons are set up for the C172. But now if I want to fly say a 747, does the map file actually change around the button settings in MS2004 for you? Or do the button settings in FS2004 remain the same? I just don't understand how this map file can change the settings inside FS2004?

The only thing I can see it doing is this.. right now lets say I have button #1 on the yoke set to put on the parking breaks of the plane. But now, I go and create a map, but I say that PHYSCIAL button #1 on the yoke is NOW VIRTUALLY button #8.

So when I launch FS2004 and I don't change anything and start flying my plane, when I push the PHYSCIAL button #1, this is actually doing the job of what button #8 is supposed to do in the FS2004 settings?

Does this sound correct of how the map files work?

I just don't see how this could benifit you because you probably would still need to go into FS2004 and manually re-assign the buttons to new functions for different aircraft you know?
Like a C172 won't have landing gear, but a 747 will, so I will have to reassign a button to the landing gear function in FS2004... I don't think a map file can do this..

now, if there was a program that could interface with FS2004 and this program knew all the functions of the game, and it let you actually create profiles for different planes, so each profile says what PHYSICAL button on the yoke does to each specific plane, that would be cool. This way you can just run this program, launch this profile, and then it will change all the button assignments in FS2004 for you to match what plane you have choose to use...

The trick is to use the keyboard shortcuts in the CH map. You can assign a keyboard shortcut to just about any function you can imagine in FS. Most of the basic ones are available from within the FS Settings >> Assignments menu but there are also lots more that don't show up there. Those can be accessed through the .cfg file, FSUIPC (payware version) or there is a little addon that helps set up FS maps. I forget the name just now.

Once you have a keyboard shortcut for every function you want to use, you just have the CH yoke buttons emulate those keystrokes. Delete all the joystick assignments in FS. Then, you can make a different map for every airplane you fly if you want. I generally just use a different map for different types.

Anyway, it is possible to use CH Control Manager to do exactly what you wanted.
