Thread: I think Microsoft should patch the Seasonal CTD problem

  1. Default I think Microsoft should patch the Seasonal CTD problem

I have been following many forums the past few weeks and it is very obvious that the seasonal CTD problem is a critical error and needs to be patched.

I love FS2004 greatly and I understand it is only a $50 program but we should not have to tolerate a major fault like this one.

I am even willing to bet that it is something simple in the code and it would only take someone at Microsoft a few hours to fix.

Just like to say I'm not 100% convinced about this"seasonal problem". I've completed approx 200 online flying hours with FS2004 and plenty more offline without experiencing this problem. The flying has been all over the US ,Canada,Europe plus a bit here and there in the rest of the world and so far(says he crossing fingers, touching wood etc) I haven't suffered from the problem at all.

Not to say there isn't some kind of problem for some people but I don't think it's quite as simple as many are saying.I wonder if ,for instance, the problem could be related to particular software configurations on particular motherboards or whatever.
One thing is certain - not everyone has the problem. The question is Why do some have it and others not?

Guess I don't understand what you mean by "seasonal CTD problem". I've not had one crash of any kind except those of my own making. Usually because of switching video drivers.

    No patch needed, IMO.

It could be a hardware problem or configuration. It could also be coincidence on where you fly and time of day. For example I can fly in the United States and Asia and never have a single CTD. But when I fly out of places like Germany and Norway it happens like clock work. If I switch to summer the CTD does not happen. So perhaps it is a corrupted winter texture of some kind.

Some might be very lucky and not have the problem but it really is happening on a large scale.

area only, I don`t know about most your area you fly.

    To fix this:

In the TERRAIN.CFG file in the FS9 folder, make a backup of the Terrain.cfg first, open it in Notepad and replace all and each MaskClassMap=1 AND MaskClassMap=3 to MaskClassMap=0. Save the file and re-start FS.

These change will only remove the under texture from the road and rivers, almost non noticable anyways.

-There is some non compatible aircraft with gauge, also 3rd party landclass that`s cause CTD.

-If you are using 3rd party landclass , you need to download the Joachim's fix and textures.

*-*Also try to set your video cards; Fast write to off.
*-*Disabling FORCE Feedback, specialy when you land.

Others CTD can be related to the temp, fan, power, overcloking is not recommended at all etc.
