Thread: Yannick's Falcon 50

Was just curious if this was going to be updated for FS9? It would be really nice to have it flying in 2004! I am sure there are some things you can do to make it work, but was just curious if anyone has heard anything about it?

    Thanks!

I too would really like to see it updated. I believe it's an FSDS model which would probably require a good bit of work to get it functioning properly. The panel does work fine in FS9 though. Just change out the gps and it's ready to go.

I'm just wondering what problems you are having with this aircraft in FS9. Everything seems to be working pretty well with the version I'm using??

The aircraft flies OK. Problem is you get an error message when it's loading. Just select yes and ignore it, or you'll have no landing gear; but it gets you too the aircraft. There's a problem switching to outside views once in the sim. It studders bad and takes forever for the textures to draw. That's probably cause it's an FSDS model and not an FSDS2 or GMAX model. So, it doesn't work as designed. But, yes; it does fly.

You can fix this problem by opening up the FS9 Cfg file in notepad and then scan about half way down until you find a line pertaining to the Falcon 50. This line will start with a 0. Just change this to a 1, save the file and restart FS9. The plane will now show up correctly. (Gears, flaps, doors, spoilers, etc.) Also the VC panel will now work. I can't give the exact wording on the Cfg line because I’m at work at the moment but this will fix quite a few 2002 aircraft.
I have used this with Capt. Sim's L-39 and it now works great in FS9.

Post it when you can, if you would. I'd be interested in giving it a second try. I also had the L39 from Capt. Sim. Heard they weren't upgrading it so I deleted it. Was never that impressed with it anyway.

Never assume it will not work huh?

For unknown reasons, I had never moved either the Falcon or the Gulfstream V from FS2002 to FS9. (Old Age I guess).

After seeing your post, I copied these out of my archives into my aircraft folder, and wow! I had forgotten how much I enjoyed these two birds. Made a VatSim flight last night in the Gulfstream from KORD to KATL.

They both work fine in FS9, and I am not sure that anything is missing. The VC views are still fine for the Falcon. Had to experiment a bit as I didn't remember that the Nav Light Switch open and closes the door.

I usually customize my panels for personal preference, and don't remember why now, but I had two shortcut Icons for the GPS in the Falcon panel. To start with it would shutdown FS9 until I disabled one of them.

You also have to say no to the old MS warning coming up which says these birds will not work in FS9 in order to have the gear (Like so many others).

Don't really know what the problem was for side views and slow texture loading as mentioned in the above reply. I am not having these problems at all. May be system specific. I sure would recommend at least trying these birds as is.

Thanks so much for the Jog to this old man's memory. Great to have these birds back in my hanger. IMHO they need no improvement for FS9.

I have been using the Falcon 50 for awhile, it works just fine. Only problem i have seen is with the number 2 battery switch clicks, but does not move, and it does not light-up active. Everything else seems to be just fine. I also bought ($10usa) the 3 pack of Falcon jets designed for fs9, they are not bad. I edited them all three, and put the Falcon 50 overhead panel on all of them....for do-do and giggles.

Searched the FS9.cfg file for reference to the Falcon 50. Cannot find anything.
right now I have the falcon in FS9 but no visible gear, flaps, ets.. Seems to work and fly....

If you could add a little mor light on the Falcon line I would be happy....
