Thread: Panel bmp problem

  1. Default Panel bmp problem

Afternoon folks. I have repainted a freeware panel bmp for personal use, but I'm having a slight problem. Everything works and looks great when the panel light is not engaged. As soon as I switch on the panel lights or it turns on automatically, the panel reverts back to the old paint bmp. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance Greg

It could be you have changed the panel in that particular aircraft folder and as you say it looks fine, but is it a panel that is used by other aircraft like a B737?
If it is it could be, and I'm only guessing, when the light comes on it reverts to the default/original panel. So you may need to change the default panel as well.
So if say it is a B737 panel, change it in the original B737 aircraft folder, then if you have other aircraft that use that panel as a default, you will get the new repaint that you have done.

I just said B737 as an example.

I personalised a few of my panels but I must admit I haven't had that happen yet.

I guess the panel lightning is accomplished by a gauge is making an overlay bitmap to simulate the night lightning. In that case the gauge will have to be edited as well to reflect your repaint or you'll have to discard the night lightning (or make your own).
You could contact the author and see if he would make the changes for you.
There is also the option that you change the bitmap your self, but only if it's ok with the author off course, probably not problem if it's strictly for personal use. If it's an .XML gauge you can simply unpack it and make the changes, but if it's .GAU type you'll need an additional program to make the changes. Panelstudio will do the work, but if you don't own then you can take alook around places like www.tucows and see if you can find a suitible program ( I guess "reshacker", which is freeware will do the trick, though I havent tried with gauges)
