Default Your computer has run out of memory, FS will now exit...

    Hello,
My config is : P2 2.4; 1 gigabyte ram, Video GF4 TI4600 with 2 monitors liked, XP PRO SP1, Virtual Memory or Paging file 4 Gbytes, FS9.
After adding some mesh and sceneries and flying more than 1 hour I have an error popup box
"your computer has run out of memory, Flight Simulator will now exit. You may not have enough free space on your hard drive. Run disk cleanup to free some space and then try running Flight Simulator again"

How is this possible with that much RAM and Paging file??
    Any recommendations?
    Thanks in advance

Make sure that there are no empty texture subfolders in one or more of your additional scenery folders.

I had this occur a couple of days back, and after getting to the point of looking at a complete reinstall(15+ GIG)I slept on it, and remembered I had had a shutdowm problem once before and found it to be a scenery file I had downloaded and placed in Lago's FSE. If you have this program, just cut the whole FSE folder, and sit it on your desktop, then try starting FS9. if it starts, you have to then find the offending file and remove it. I know which one did it to me the other day, and will email the name to you if you want it. I don't want to upset anyone by naming names. Teecee.

Another slight possibility is that the pagefile is all fragmented.

You can run the defrag analysis and look at the report to see if there's a problem like that.

If there is, you kill all programs, disable virtual memory, and then from there either run a defrag, or delete pagefile.sys from your root, or both, then re-enable virtual memory.

The pagefile does not get defragged during defrags because the system uses it during the process.

I really don't think I've ever seen an XP rig with this problem yet though.

It was sort of common in the Win98 days.

There are numerous threads here for this. the landclass files for your addon sceneries have to be inthe BASE folder. It's the only place the paging file will delete them from as you leave an area. do a search for more info on this...

Hello and thanks to all of you.
I did find the scenery generating this problem, now I have to find why ...but it is related to Landclass .bgl mixed with the scenery.
Again thanks a lot for assistance.
