Default Set up custome waypoint in AP?

Is there a simple way to program into the AP lat/lon info in order to set up a custom waypoint?

To some extent, that depends on your definition of "simple." There isn't a way of which I'm aware to insert a custom waypoint directly into the default GPS/flightplanner/autopilot without using an addon program. As I understand it, you'll need to use a payware program like FS Navigator (highly recommended by the community) available at www.fsnavigator.com or a freeware program like Nav available at http://nav.consequential.org/. I believe these two programs can generate custom waypoints within flight plans that can then be exported to FlightSim 200x as compatible flight plans to be flown within the sim. There may be some complex addon aircraft in which you can program the FMC to track to a waypoint within a non-stock navigational database (maybe not), but I'm not too up on that type of activity as I'm mostly a GA guy.

    Hope this helps,

    Kevin

As Kevin says there is a way to program simple Lat/Long waypoints IF you have an aircraft with an FMC.For example the Dreamfleet 737(sorry,does not work in FS 2004 yet)or others with that ability.PM 737?

Otherwise it looks like FS Navigator should be your next investment as that will do it.

It is frustrating for long "over ocean" flights isn't it,especially North Atlantic.

What I actually would like to do is create a waypoint with a specific lat/lon, give it a name and store it in the Garmin. How about changing the lat/lon of an airport I would never use? Can this be done?

FSNav can do it. Just drag from anywhere on the map and drop it in the waypoint screen. It will show up as an intersection, just save it, then you can save it in MS flight planner.

Getting closer, but it still will not have the lat/lon cordinates I want, will it?

Yes, you can do that! Download the FS2004_BGLCOMP_SDK.EXE and install it. Search the documentation for Waypoint. You would want the one NOT associated with an Airport.

Hot Dog! Now I’m getting somewhere. Thanks for the input. Only trouble is now I have to show my ignorance. Where can I download this file from?
