Thread: Building Data base

    Default Building Data base

Problem: Everytime I start FS I get this message Building Data base for new scenery files.

Cure: uncheck the box by addon scenery in scenery libarary.

New problem now: Afcad won't work without the check mark on addon scenery checked.

I have read some on this, tried several things, but as of yet I still have the problem.

    Any suggestions??

    Thanks!

    Default RE: Building Data base

Constant rebuilding of the database is a pretty sure indication that you have something duplicated in the library. Since unchecking Addon Scenery worked for you I would bet that you have two AFCAD files with the same name somewhere in your scenery paths.

Do a search for AF2*.* in the FS9 folder and see if you find any duplicates. If so, delete the one not in the Addon Scenery folder and reactivate the Addon Scenery folder.

Of course there are other things in the Addon Scenery folder and any of them could be duplicated but AFCAD files have a tendancy to get spread around sometime. You may end up having to check for each file which could be tough. It seems like I remember someone building a utility to search for dupes but I don't know what it is.

Also, duplicates in the scenery library can cause this. They may not always be the same name but they will point to the same folder. Print out the scenery.cfg file from your FS9 root folder and scan it for duplicates that point to the same folder. If any exist, then go into the scenery library and delete one of them.

    Hope this helps you.
