Thread: Anyone know where Saved Flights are saved???

Default Anyone know where Saved Flights are saved???

I run the replacement fltsim.flt file called BC_DARK that works great for starting off each session truly powered down and thus, "dark". It's better than saving a flight because no other parameters are save here, like AI traffic. When you set you default flight by saving like this, you end up saving other elements you don't want to save like time, state of AI traffic and so on. Thus every time you go in, AI traffic is exactly the same. BC_DARK fixes all that.

The problem is that it uses the default settings to start you in Seattle and I want to be at a specific gate in Philly (KPHL) but need a way to get the LAT/LON in the same format as this file. The CTRL-Z info is in a different format. I also need the Tower info and such. I can use a saved flight in Philly to get all this but apparently FS9 hides THESE saved flights somewhere. No searching has come up with where they are so that I can just clip out all the needed information.

On my system flights and logbook are saved at:

    C:\Documents and Settings\profile name\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files

    Hope this helps.

Yep, strange as it might seem, that's where they are. (Stuff scattered all around with this version of sim).

It was so unexpected that I didn't even look there. I did look in with where the FS9 file is located and, of course, didn't find anything. Leave it to Microsoft to spead data for a single program across 4 places (so far). Install folder, My Documents, Application Data and registry. These guys just don't get it in my view. They need to get back to the old days where everything for a specific program got left in the directory it was installed in. They could even do registry items this way if they have to by just having .REG files that get referenced and, if not there one day, removed. That way if I remove an entire folder, it's FULLY uninstalled. No hassle.

Thanks a bunch. It just made this effort a great success. Now I can just setup on the gate I want, save that flight, exit, open that file, grab the LAT/LON items under [SimVars] section, paste it into fltsim.flt and I'm right at the perfect spot every time.

I just wish all these commands for these files were documented somewhere. I suspect there's much more I can do if I could understand them or see the ones that just weren't included.

For example, I suspect there's a way to have the sim setup to load real weather updated every 15 minutes without having to select it every time. I've set the file up to choose real weather as the default but it doesn't actually work unless you click Change under Weather and then OK (my fix move the selection from Clear to Real Weather Updated Every 15 Minutes) so I reduced the work but didn't eliminate it.
