Thread: Disconnecting the AP and my throttles turn screwy...help!

  1. Default Disconnecting the AP and my throttles turn screwy...help!

It seems like whenever I'm on approach to land and I disconnect the AP my throttle control on my joystick will only operate one engine....the 2nd engine will stay in the same thrust setting and I can't move it unless I manually move it with the mouse..(which is a hassle on landing)....Is this some sort of bug?

    Thanks

Get FSUIPC and set a keystroke combo for "synchronise throttles"

There is a keyboard command used to choose separate engines. I can't think of what it is right now. Let's assume it's "T" (look up the actual command in FS under Settings >> Assignments >> Keyboard). If you want to choose the left engine, you type "T"+"1" in quick succession. Conversely, if you only want the right engine, you type "T"+"2" in quick succession. If you want to control both again you should type "T"+"1"+"2" in quick succession. The key here is to be somewhat quick about it.

It's E, 1,2 ,3 , 4 depending on the number of engines, you press E and afterwards all th engine numbersand they are all synchronized again..

    hope this helps

I'd still like to know why he is experiencing this problem. I've never seen the turning off of the AP do that...no matter how many engines the aircraft had. Does the joystick control all engines before you turn on AP, at the beginning of the flight?

The minute you notice this happens bring up the throttle quadrant display and press E then 1 and 2, move the throttle lever on the joystick until both have synchronized with each other. This is a glitch that has been with us since FS98, it also means you love to have AP do your approaches ;-)

It just happened to me tonight while descending into 31R at KJFK on my second time in with VATSIM. What a NIGHTMARE! First attempt at landing I couldn't stay off the left of the runway and didn't know why so I executed a missed approach and then came in a second time and landed hard left. Assumed the wind was nasty. But once on the ground I realized the aircraft was wrong as I couldn't taxi properly. Took me search and find this thread to fix it. Thanks! And yes, I too have really taken to using AP for approaches.

If you happen to hit the E button, it seems that it selects engine one. I do it all the time when flying online, because I forget to click on Squawkbox to type my message. One of the main reasons I bought FSUIPC was because of this. I could never get the E+1,2 to work. So for awhile, I was real good at flying single engine approaches in my IK DC-9. Just set the bad engine with the mouse up alittle from idle, and crab, crab, crab! :)

Yeah, I never had the problem until VATSIM (Squawkbox) so I guess it goes with the territory. I guess the idea behind FSUIPC (I own it) is that it supports setting up hotkeys for things Microsoft left out? Is that the deal? What key combo do you use for this?
